The E! Host and author of How to Get a Guy by Thinking Like One! is an M&T favorite!

E! Entertainment Television's Giuliana Rancic is someone we believe perfectly defines the term "It Girl." Giuliana took a moment out of her very busy schedule and chatted about Think Like A Guy with Ask Matt & Tamsen's own Love Guru, Matt Titus!

Matt Titus: I want to start by saying I truly love Think Like A Guy, you hit it out of the park with this book! It's so smart and funny; you found the simple secret that men and women think differently. What inspired you to put it out there?

Giuliana Rancic: I was inspired to write the book because I have always been told that I think like such a guy. My girlfriends kept coming to me, telling me about all their problems with men. They wanted advice, and when I provided it, whatever it was, they'd say, "That sounds like something a guy would do." And I would say, "Exactly!" Guys make girls crazy about them because they act like...guys. Turns out, girls can use some of that to their advantage as well!

Matt Titus: You sure have insight in what's going on in a guys head, did you always have that knack, or was it something that happened over time?

Giuliana Rancic: It was definitely something that happened over time. Starting out, I had a lot of dates where I didn't have a clue what I was doing. Then, one night, I had dinner with a guy; he was cool and fun, but I just wasn't really into him, so I didn't kiss him at the end of the night. That drove him crazy. To him, we'd had a perfect date, and he couldn't figure out why we didn't kiss, why I hadn't jumped at the chance to see him again. Of course, I got calls and messages from him, almost immediately. And it sorta struck me, I totally did what a lot of guys do to girls, and it made him mad about me. From there, I continued to think about those things - obviously I put some of them to the test, as well - and voila, I had all these tips.

Matt Titus: Think Like A Guy is one of the few dating advice books that I tell my clients to read, so many of those others are just plain boring and almost seem afraid to tell the reader the truth. Did you get any flack because it was so direct and honest?

Giuliana Rancic: I've gotten a lot of criticism from girls that say I'm telling them to lie. They think many of my tips suggest they should be fake and trick a guy into falling for them. That's not the case. I've always said that this book is for those first couple of dates, when you're making that first impression. And it's not about lying or not being yourself - it's about putting the best "you" forward. Girls get nervous and they take their blind date conversations into dangerous territory; they talk about being in debt, the couple of months where they had a ton of one night stands, and how their last boyfriend broke their heart. That's honest, yes. But it's also not that attractive. There is a time and a place for that, and your first, second, or third date ain't it. Guys really don't give up that info until they've fallen for a girl. Why should girls behave any differently?

Matt Titus: Of the "66" ways to act around men that you so perfectly list in the book, which one do you consider is the most important?

Giuliana Rancic: I really can't pick one. They all speak to tricky situations that girls find themselves in with a new guy. I will say though - and my fiancé Bill will agree - Tip # 40: Don't Always Leave Him With the Bill is amazing. It's just something that so many girls don't consider, and it really shocks the guy. He'll likely object, so I even recommend slipping the waiter your credit card on a trip to the bathroom. It's kinda sneaky but in a perfectly appropriate way. Plus, it shows you're independent, and you think ahead. Guys love that.

Matt Titus: My favorite is number 17, "Never, Ever Kiss on the First Date", it's so simple yet a complete surprise to most woman who hear it!

Giuliana Rancic: Yes! Like I said before, this is the tip that really got me thinking about putting my tips in a book. It's also a great indicator for whether or not a guy is into you. Trust me, he'll want to know why you didn't kiss. If he really wanted it, he'll try again. He'll be calling.

Matt Titus: What do you think is the biggest difference between women and men when it comes to dating?

Giuliana Rancic: Men do not put it all out there at first. Women have a tendency to be very open and like I said before, give away too much too soon. There is a lot to be said for keeping a guy guessing. Be strong. Let him worry about what's going on inside your head for a change. Men are attracted to a bit of mystery, right?

Matt Titus: Why do you think people keep making the same mistakes when it comes to relationships?

Giuliana Rancic: People make the same mistakes because there is this thinking that everything will just magically fall into place one day, just like in the movies. The reality is that relationships - even friendships - take a lot of work. Every one is different.

Matt Titus: Congratulations, by the way on your successful marriage to Bill Rancic (NBC's The Apprentice). You two make a great couple, how many of the book's "66 Tips" did you use during the early days of the relationship?

Giuliana Rancic: Ha ha. I gotta say, I used a couple on him. It was right around the time the book was coming out, so of course, I made him swear he wouldn't read it. I didn't want him reading into everything that I said or did as, "Could this be tip number so and so?" I just wanted things to progress naturally for us. The tips are very me though; they're how I think. So, I definitely lived by it when I met Bill. But when I knew we had something going, all bets were off, ya know? I had fallen for him, he'd fallen for me; there wasn't anything that we couldn't share with one another.

Matt Titus: The good news is that once you've educated yourself, and read Think Like A Guy of course-hah, an honest relationship is truly possible to find and cherish!

I found this book to be very humorous and entertaining. It was a very easy and enjoyable read and I completed the entire book in the bookstore, word for word, in about an hour while enjoying a venti mocha. However, instead of the Self-Improvement section, which is where I found it, this book would be more at home in the Humor or Entertainment section, which is all this book is, nothing more. Lacking substance and professionalism, it is simply a listing of the author’s opinions based on her dateing experiences which, apparently, is severely limited indeed. I am one of those “in-shape and toned, six-figure income” guys the author frequently mentions as “a catch” in the book. I’m also a very young 52, have never married, and have been dating girls from all over the world all of my life. Although I am open to “finding that right woman” if I ever do, if they all followed the author’s sorely misguided advice, I would rather die alone.  News Flash for the author Giuliana: Not all guys are as shallow or as narrow-minded as you may think, and there are actually nice guys out there - gentlemen - who appreciate sincerity and honesty, above all, with no games or deceptions. If you can ever drag yourself out of the bars and stop puking long enough to step out into the real world, you may actually meet one someday.
