Liz is a hard worker, she's motivated, and all of her great attributes reflect in her work. Once a knife sales woman, she has pursued a career in fitness, health, and is now writing her first book. Here is a little about Liz..
Elizabeth has been an entrepreneur since she got her first sales job at 19. Believe it or not she sold Cutco knives (not a scam despite what a lot of people think). Liz ran her office successfully recruiting over 1000 representatives (hitting her million dollar office sales milestone in the Spring of 2007, and qualifying for numerous regional and national sales incentive trips) until she wanted to relocate back up to the NY area in Sept 2007 (she was in DC). Liz quickly figured out within a year that corporate sales (or working for someone else) wasn’t for her and decided to take a major pay cut to start from the bottom and pursue a career in health and fitness.
She's been training clients at NYSC in Hoboken and privately since Fall 2008, and also got certified in her two favorite workouts—Spinning and Zumba. Liz works mainly with women, serving as both personal trainer and life coach in some instances—and she is blessed everyday to be doing something she loves, which affords her the delight of never feeling like she is actually “going to work.”
Liz started a blog in the Spring of 2009, launched a website fithealthyandbeautiful.com in the fall of 2009 and has been seeking out writing and expert consulting opportunities since getting her Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certificate through the National Academy for Sports Medicine this past Spring.
Liz is currently writing for TheBeautyBean.com and YourBellaLife.com. She has been featured on urbangirlsquad.com, and will start her masters in exercise science this fall at George Washington University.
Liz's most exciting endeavor to date is in its incipient stages—she is writing her first book Superwoman’s Handbook. It will be an accumulation of all her experiences, journey to become a better human, and those of other amazingly successful women.
We asked Liz a few questions and here is what she had to say:
What Inspires You Everyday In Your Career?
I mainly work with women, and am constantly astounded at how strong and beautiful every woman is, in her own personal way. Seeing my clients accomplish things they didn’t think they were capable of also inspires me daily. It might sound cheesy, but seeing people as they can be, not as they are right now-and guiding (sometimes pushing) them to get there makes my job as a personal trainer both selfish and unselfish because the pride I feel as they reach their goals is so fulfilling. As I’ve branched into the writing world, I am also constantly inspired by the endless generosity of women with their time and wisdom whenever I go looking for help on a project.
What Are Your Favorite It Girl Picks:
I am obsessed with having soft skin so I love Palmers Cocoa Butter Swivel Stick (for lips), Palmers Cocoa Butter Body Lotion and Olay Total Effects 7-in-1 Anti Aging Body Wash. Other things I can’t live without: L’oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara (it’s like putting on fake lashes!) Too Faced The Bronzed and the Beautiful Bronzing Powder Trio (three different tones for winter, spring and summer-so smart!) Benefit Erase Paste For my super curly hair: Terax Hair Care Original Crema (use as conditioner or a mask) Bed Head Curls Rock Leave-In conditioner and Wired Flexible Styling Crème by Rusk. Fashion: I’m a bargain hunter and usually snag my favorite clothes in random boutiques—I will, however, splurge on Gucci or Chanel sunglasses and any Michael Kors accessory. Places:I love any Barnes and Noble or Borders where I can sit in the café and pick up a stack of books to read, write, research or journal for hours on end. Food: Dining out I particularly love Sushi, Thai and Mexican. At home I enjoy creating delicious salads that are also satisfying meals, and anything involving mango, avocado, portabella mushrooms, roasted red peppers or balsamic vinegar.
Who Do You Consider An “It Girl”?
I grew up watching Summer Sanders on Nickelodeon’s “Figure it Out” and “NBA Inside Stuff.” She’s an Olympic swimmer and TV Host. This spring on “Celebrity Apprentice” it was obvious that she’s a competitive, hard working, beautiful, stylish and intelligent woman—not to mention an amazing mom too! (I follower her Twitter and 80% of her tweets are about her kids/family activities) She really seems to have it all.
