Looking forward to spending Sundays with your man, but not the biggest football fan? Don't worry-- we've got you covered.
{title}

Remember that time your dog accidentally ate your charm bracelet, and your man took Pookie to the ER for you because you were late for work? Well, Football Sunday is pay-back time (unless, of course, you love football as much or more than he does). If you would rather stick a fork in your eye than watch a bunch of guys in tights run around for three hours, follow these tips to keep you sane--and save your relationship--on the big day:

1) Suck it up and at least pretend to be interested in the game by keeping your attention on the screen.

2) If you don't understand what's going on, save your questions for the commercial break. And NO sarcastic comments.

3) He's not going to want to smooch, so don't expect your guy to be lovey dovey during the game. It’s only going to make you unhappy when he brushes off your affection, or if you get blamed when he misses a great moment.

4) Keep the chips, dip, and beer coming. If nothing else, at least you can drown your sorrows in Budweiser and Velveeta.

5) Don't get dressed up-- it's a waste of time and you'll look out of place if you're at a party. A much better idea is to wear sweatpants and a jersey.

6) Unless you actually care about the other team, root for your man's favorite team. Nothing causes tension like cheering when his players are losing.

7) If you actually want to enjoy the game, don't play clueless. Hit up ESPN.com and read about the teams, check out their stats, and see what the commentators are saying.

8) Don't block the view by jumping up and down to do whatever it is you'd rather be doing. Either stay put, or head out.

Last night, ESPN's Monday Night Football - a thrilling 25-22 last-second New Orleans Saints' victory over the San Francisco 49ers - led all programs (broadcast or cable) in all key male and adult demos and helped ESPN win the night among all networks in those same categories. The telecast earned a 10.9 household coverage rating, representing an average of 10,904,000 households (15,120,000 viewers - P2+), the second biggest cable television audience of the year.

Through the first two weeks (three games), ESPN's MNF is averaging a 10.3 household rating, 10,278,000 households (14,134,000 viewers), increases of three, four and five percent, respectively. ESPN MNF games rank as the four biggest audiences among households and the three biggest among total viewers for cable television in 2010. (The 2009 MNF season finale (Minnesota Vikings-Chicago Bears, 12/28/09) leads the list for the Nielsen 2010 calendar.)

ESPN.com had more than 219 million page views and 310 million minutes (a 24 percent increase) generated with NFL content on Sunday and Monday. ESPN's Mobile web site had 59 million page views and more than 102 million minutes (up 49 percent), spent with NFL content on the ESPN Mobile web site and ScoreCenter App.

Another suggestion for the big day - if you happen to know your way around the kitchen - make something special to share at halftime.

Savory foods are usually safe because either he’ll be savoring his team’s first-half performance or look for a quick snack to drowned his first-half sorrows ... savory/comfort foods typically are dual-purpose like that.  Plus, when he sees the effort you put in to make his gameday special, it’ll pay off later after the game.
