What do you do to keep the weight off permanently?

Whenever you begin a new fitness program, it has to be with the mindset that you are embarking on a life change. You must begin the fitness program understanding that you need to make changes in both your eating and exercise habits that should continue on for the course of your lifetime. In order to successfully do this I often suggest that clients make small changes over the course of a long time. As you adjust to each small change you make, you can continue to tweak and make more beneficial changes to reach your ultimate goal. For instance, I always suggest adding 2 days of exercise when first beginning a fitness program so as not to overwhelm yourself. While your initial weight loss progress may be slow at first, over the course of several years, you will see significant and lasting changes. Once you have adjusted and maintained a 2 day per week exercise program for several weeks, you can add a third and fourth day to your regimen. This will help you develop a program that you can stay on for life!

That being said, the biggest factor in losing weight and keeping it off for a lifetime is to incorporate good nutritional habits as well!

With respect to diet, I can’t stress how important it is to EAT CLEAN!

This means you eat 5-6 small meals a day consisting of foods that are fresh and not processed. This is crucial for succeeding on any fitness/diet plan and is one of the most important aspects to losing weight and keeping it off for a lifetime! Clean foods are those that are closest to their natural state or as close as possible to it! According to the principles of Clean Eating, a person should eat several small meals throughout the day.

This will keep your metabolism churning and most importantly, it keeps some food in your stomach throughout the day which will prevent you from getting ravenous later at night and throughout the day.

By eating this way, you will have a far greater chance of success since you will be eating to truly fuel your body.
